How do you know you are getting the CBD the package claims? You don’t, but there are a few ways to put the odds in your favor.

WHAT ELSE TO EXPECT WHEN TAKING CBD

Broad Spectrum cannabis products maintain the whole profile of the marijuana plant, but with the THC mostly removed.

The 2018 US Farm Bill legalized the growing of hemp and sale of hemp-derived products, which made CBD legal at the federal level (mostly). As noted, hemp is a species of the marijuana plant with one very important distinction: the variety must have less than 0.3% THC. So, if the CBD you buy comes from a hemp plant with less than 0.3% CBD and is grown in accordance with the 2018 Farm Bill regulations, and you live in a state where CBD is legal, you are in full abidance of the law.

Let’s break it down:

As for the scientific motivations behind further study, consider that CBD is believed to help relieve:

We also have an opioid addiction and overdose epidemic. Studies have demonstrated that when a state legalizes marijuana, the number of opioid prescriptions drops . That’s good news for doctors looking for safer pain treatments, law enforcement agencies struggling to control the tide of illegal opioid use, and lawmakers looking for solutions to the opioid problem.

Research for Fibromyalgia

First, we have a pain epidemic in the U.S., and fibromyalgia is a major contributor to that. Current treatments just aren’t good enough for most of us, so there’s an enormous financial incentive to find something that’s better at relieving our pain and other symptoms.

We don’t have a full picture of the possible side effects of CBD. Some reported side effects include:

Technically, federal law overrules state law. That doesn’t mean that those states will stop arresting and trying people on CBD charges, though, especially if they want to challenge the new federal law. If you’re in one of those states, be safe and talk to an expert about any possible trouble you could get into for using CBD products.

CB2 receptors within the body can modulate microglial cell function. One 2016 study in the Swiss journal “Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences” suggested that therapeutic strategies aimed at CB2 receptors could provide a promising treatment for inflammation. The therapeutic effects of CBD on inflammation have been documented in a range of studies, such as one published in 2015 in the journal “Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry.”

The studies

The brain is one of the key areas affected by fibromyalgia, with brain inflammation contributing to pain and brain fog. Recent research suggests that microglia in the brain and spinal cord play a role in fibromyalgia. When certain cells become activated, they can contribute to inflammation by amplifying pain signaling and transmission.

While there is a still a need for larger randomized trials, Habib, a rheumatologist in Netanya, Israel, believes that the research is promising and that it is worth trying medicinal cannabis for fibromyalgia soon after diagnosis, rather than considering it as an option when opioids fail.

She, therefore, endorses the use of full-spectrum CBD oils for fibromyalgia. “I see much greater benefit from full-spectrum CBD oils, which contain other cannabinoids and sometimes trace amounts of THC, compared to the CBD isolates, which do not have the synergistic effects of the whole plant extract.”
